Salute!

On Veterans Day last week I asked for personal stories about veterans from my readers.  I am excited to share two stories of men who have served for our country!

Nick Lopez, a friend of mine, served in the Army and has now settled with his family in Salem, Oregon – Thank you for your service Nick!

Larry Buhler of Salem, Oregon commented with the follow story, “Ben Isenberg, whose name was added to the Oregon Guard Unit Plaque in Corvallis on Sat. 11-15-08, a father of three, WSU grad, xpert long distance marksman, a forest ranger and fire fighter, killed in Iraq, an outstanding example of modesty, resolve, and Christian principles led his men well and was highly respected by his comrades. I salute you.” – I too Salute you!

Nick Lopez and Larry Buhler will receive a lunch gift certificate for Venti’s Cafe on my behalf for sharing these two great stories!

Salute To Our Veterans!

Happy Veterans Day!  I want to give a personal thanks to every man and woman who has served or is currently serving for our country!

As a salute to our Veterans I am going to have a special opportunity for people to share about a person in their life that has served our country.

Please comment on the blog with a short story about how someone in your life has served our country and how they have affected you! Each story will be read, and on Friday I will have one of my colleagues randomly choose an entry and I’ll post a salute to that veteran and provide them with a a gift certificate to Venti’s Cafe!

So please put some thought into those who have impacted your life and fought for our freedom!

FHA Down Payment Revision

A couple of weeks ago I mentioned the FHA minimum down payment would be changed to 3.5% effective October 1, 2008.  The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has postponed the change to FHA minimum down payment until January 1, 2009.  So for now, the down payment remains at 3%.

As the banking system has undergone some obvious changes in 2008, FHA has become one of the most chosen products for clients looking for a low down payment.  The VA home loan and USDA rural housing are the two programs still offering 100% financing.

Veteran Benefits

The Servicemember Civil Relief Act was created by the federal government to aid active duty military personell.  The provisions of the Act apply to those servicemembers with debt owed prior to being called to active duty.  Creditors are required to reduce the interest rate to 6% if applicable.  The debts can include consumer debt (credit cards, etc.), mortgages, and student loans.  Interest rates will be reduced automatically so each servicemember should contact individual creditors and request the rate to be reduced.

Please pass this information along to any friends or family members who are listed in active duty.

Up and Running

My name is Conrad Venti and I am blessed to be in a position to help people build a strong financial foundation. My passion is to educate friends, family, and acquaintances about the importance and benefits of home ownership. Strong Foundation is where I share tips and thoughts about credit, home ownership, and real estate in the Willamette Valley. I am going to shoot to have a new post up on Wednesdays, but will periodically post on other days as well.
