I purchased a duplex and it closed on 9/30/09. I have a tenant who pays me rent. The purchase price was $93,242.25 and I filed a 1040a form in 2008. When filing for the return, what documentation do I need to send in? How do I use my 1040a tax return to file.

Kevin,
A qualified first time homebuyer can purchase a duplex and occupy one side as the primary residence and rent the other side and still qualify for the first time homebuyer tax credit.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
